Fresh off a weekend sweep of No. 4 Baylor ? the Big 12?s top team ? the Oklahoma baseball team fell to No. 25 Texas Christian by a single run for the second time this season Tuesday night.

TCU stole a game from the Sooners on May 1 in Fort Worth, Texas, rallying from a 3-1 deficit in the game?s final two frames. The Horned Frogs clinched the game on a walk-off single from freshman second baseman Derek Odell in a ninth inning that featured two costly errors by OU?s defense.

Tuesday night, TCU took a 1-0 lead to start the game, putting a run on the board thanks to an RBI double from senior left fielder Jason Coats that scored junior catcher Josh Elander?? who reached base on an error from OU senior right fielder Cody Reine.

Oklahoma came close to evening things up in the bottom of the seventh, but the Horned Frogs quelled the Sooners? run. Junior outfielder Max White reached on an error and advanced to second when the throw to first went into TCU?s dugout.

In the next at bat, sophomore infielder Matt Oberste flied out on a foul ball down the right field line, but White tagged up and advanced to third. TCU escaped the inning when junior infielder Jack Mayfield hit a chopper down the first baseline for the frame?s final out, stranding White at third.

Home plate umpire Travis Olson ejected coach Sonny Golloway in the top of the eighth after the two participated in a heated argument over balls and strikes.

The argument escalated as a livid Golloway ripped into Olson while standing nearly nose-to-nose with the ump before the two other umpires came to Olson?s aid, restraining Golloway and leading him off the diamond, leaving the Sooners to enter the bottom of the eighth without a skipper.

But Golloway?s emotion seemed to fire up the Sooners, providing a spark for an anemic lineup that hadn?t recorded a hit all game.

OU?s rally began when senior infielder Evan Mistich reached on an error after the throw pulled the Horned Frog?s first baseman off the bag. In the next at bat, senior shortstop Caleb Bushyhead reached first on a perfectly executed suicide squeeze to put runners at first and second with no outs.

But for the second time in as many innings, the Sooners? rally fell short. Senior outfielder Erik Ross flied out to shallow leftfield to end the inning with two runners stranded.

Not to be deterred, the Sooners made a run for the third and final time in the bottom of the ninth.

Reine reached first when he was struck by a pitch in the inning?s first at bat. Upholding his reputation as the Sooners? clutch hitter, White singled to right field in the next at bat.

But TCU?s Keaton Jones cut off the relay throw from senior right fielder Brance Rivera and gunned down Reine at third by the slimmest of margins, as the Sooners lost their lead runner.

White was thrown out at second on a fielder?s choice after Oberste ricocheted the ball off of the pitcher?s chest for the inning's second out.

Mayfield legged out an infield single in the next at bat, moving Oberste ??the tying run ? into scoring position, but Mistich struck out to end the game.

Sophomore pitcher Dillon Overton picked up his third loss of the season, despite allowing just one run on six hits and recording six strikeouts in his third complete game of the season.

Golloway and the rest of the team were unavailable for comment following the game.

The Sooners will face Samford this weekend in what will be their final regular-season series. The teams take the field at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
